Cursor Integration

Get notifications from Cursor directly to your phone — build results, deploy status, agent progress — while it works in your editor.

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed
  • Dashtray account with API key
  • API key copied (don’t lose it!)

Step 1: Get Your API Key

  1. Go to Dashtray Dashboard
  2. Generate a new API key named “Cursor”
  3. Copy the full key immediately — you won’t see it again

Step 2: Configure Cursor

Open Cursor Settings → MCP (or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json directly) and add:
Paste your full API key. Save, then hit Refresh in the MCP settings panel — Dashtray should show a green dot.
Node 18+ is required (node --version to check).

Step 3: Test the Integration

Ask Cursor’s agent:
You should see MCP - Cursor is connected! on your phone within seconds, and the send logged in your Dashtray history.

Troubleshooting

  • Server shows red / won’t start — run npx -y @dashtray/mcp-server in a terminal. The stderr output tells you what’s wrong (most often a missing DASHTRAY_API_KEY).
  • “Invalid API key” — the key was copied partially or revoked. Create a fresh one and update the config.
  • Notifications not arriving — check the alert exists and is active in your Dashtray app, and that you’re under your plan’s rate limit.
